バッファローリヴァーが飛ばす展開で中段の5番手に控えたミスターブライトサイドは、早めに仕掛けて3番手で直線へ。残り150メートル付近でバッファローリヴァーをとらえると、追い込んできたペリクレスを1.5馬身差で退けた。
B,W＆JD.ヘイズ厩舎のミスターブライトサイドはブルバーズ産駒の6歳セン馬。昨年3月のオールスターマイルから9月のマカイビーディーヴァステークスまでG1での3勝を含む5連勝。そこから3戦連続2着と歯がゆい競馬が続いたが、今年は前走のC.F.オーアステークスからG1レース2連勝となった。次走は連覇のかかるオールスターマイルを予定している。
